What is UTRIP?
UTRIP is an immersive research internship hosted by the University of Tokyo, offering international students the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research. Eligibility Criteria
To apply for UTRIP 2025, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate Status: Must have completed at least one full year of a Bachelor’s degree program by the time of application.
- Return to University: Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program outside of Japan and expected to return to complete your degree after the internship.
- Field of Study: Major in natural science or related fields.
- Commitment: Be available full-time for the entire six-week period of the program.
- Health Insurance: Present coverage effective during the internship.
- English Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must provide TOEFL or IELTS scores unless exempted by previous continuous English-medium education.
Program Requirements
Upon enrollment, selected students must:
- Participate fully in research projects for the entire six-week program.
- Attend all academic and social events scheduled during UTRIP.
- Submit a final research report approved by their supervisor.
- Present their research in an oral presentation at the program’s conclusion.
Application Process
Interested students need to submit the following documents online by January 7, 2025:
- Personal Information: Accurate and up-to-date contact details.
- Personal Statement: A 700-1000 word essay outlining your research interests, skills, and why you chose UTRIP.
- Resume/CV: Include relevant academic and work experience.
- Scanned Academic Transcripts: Showing your academic performance and GPA.
- English Proficiency Scores: If applicable.
- Recommendation Letter: Issued by a professor familiar with your academic background. The letter must be submitted online by January 14, 2025.
