The United Nations (UN) is offering a 6-month Protocol Internship for 2024, based in China, through the UN Resident Coordinator Office (RCO). This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a global organization that works towards enhancing the efficiency of UN activities and operational frameworks at the country level.
Key Responsibilities
As a Protocol Intern, you will support the UN Resident Coordinator Office in China in the following areas:
- Inter-Agency Coordination: Assisting with coordination between different UN agencies, facilitating collaboration on various projects and initiatives.
- Strategic Planning: Contributing to the strategic analysis and positioning of the UN Country Team (UNCT) and monitoring the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNCF).
- Joint Advocacy and Communications: Supporting the development of joint communications materials and managing the UN in China website.
- Operations Management: Assisting in the operational functions and policy guidance to strengthen the overall impact of the UN system in China.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: Enrolled in, or completed, a graduate program (second degree or higher) or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s degree). Preferred fields of study include:
- International Development Studies
- Economics
- Political Science
- Computer Science
- Statistics
- Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to approach tasks with a constructive attitude.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in a multicultural team environment is an advantage.
- Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and implement best practices.
Languages
- National Candidates: Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
- International Candidates: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in other UN languages is considered an asset.
