VI. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Chinese Government Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Basic Requirements:

1. Be in good mental and physical health.
2. Be a citizen of a country other than China.
3. Comply with Chinese laws and university rules.
4. Not hold multiple scholarships simultaneously.

Additional Requirements:

• For Master’s Degree: Hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
• For Doctoral Degree: Hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old.

Language Proficiency:

• Chinese-taught programs: HSK level 4 (≥ 210 points) or equivalent.
• English-taught programs:
  • TOEFL ≥ 80
  • IELTS ≥ 6.0 (with no subtest below 5.5)

2. Passport Copy (homepage)
3. Highest Academic Certificate (or expected graduation certificate)

5. Language Proficiency Certificate
6. Study Plan (Minimum 1,500 words, follow HIT guidelines)
7. Two Recommendation Letters from professors/associate professors
8. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners
9. Application Fee Receipt (USD 60 or CNY 400)
10. Non-criminal Record Report
11. Acceptance Letter from HIT supervisors (optional but recommended)
